Getting Started With Power BI: Transforming Data Into Insight

This three-hour, hands-on workshop provides a practical introduction to Power BI's core components, including connecting to data sources, applying relevant data transformations, and building and sharing reports. Participants will explore how Power BI's key features support institutional research, benchmarking, and day-to-day reporting needs.

Using NCCBP to Drive Institutional Effectiveness: Data, Benchmarks, and Action

Tuesday, June 9, 9:00 - 12:00 PM

This flexible, three-hour workshop offers a practical, hands-on introduction to the National Community College Benchmark Project (NCCBP). Participants are welcome to attend all three hours or join for any individual hour, based on their interests and schedules.

Hour 1 (9:00 - 10:00 AM): NCCBP Foundations An overview of the NCCBP, including the purpose, structure, and value of the project, with a focus on the Traditional Module and how institutions use core benchmarks to support accreditation and institutional effectiveness.

Hour 2 (10:00 - 11:00 AM): Expanding Insight Through Additional Modules A deeper dive into NCCBP's additional modules, highlighting how colleges can tailor benchmarking to address specific priorities.

Hour 3 (11:00 - 12:00 PM): Turning Data into Action A hands-on exploration of NCCBP's reporting functionality, peer comparison tools, and labor market data integration, with an emphasis on translating data into actionable insights for leadership and decision-making.

Exploring the Workforce Training & Continuing Education Module

Wednesday, June 10, 4:30 - 5:30 PM

This workshop will guide attendees through the Workforce Training & Continuing Education module of the National Community College Benchmarking Project (NCCBP), offering an overview of the credit and non-credit benchmarks available. It will also introduce additional non-credit data, broadening insights into institutional performance.

Participants will see a demonstration of the data entry process, including a look at the tools and resources designed support this process. The session will culminate in a preview of the available reports from this module, featuring innovative new reports that combine both credit and non-credit workforce data, as well as a report showcasing external labor market statistics relevant to workforce development.

Additionally, attendees will learn how to utilize tools such as peer reports and custom reports to meet their specific institutional needs. Whether you're looking to deepen your expertise or enhance your institution's benchmarking strategies, this session provides actionable knowledge and valuable resources. Delving into the Cost & Productivity Project and Student Services & Administration Services Modules

In this engaging workshop, attendees will explore three critical modules of the National Community College Benchmarking Project (NCCBP): the Cost & Productivity Project and the Student Services & Administration Services Modules. These modules provide an analysis of institutional costs, workload, and productivity measures across academic, student service, and administrative service areas.

The workshop will include a discussion of CIP codes, their role in defining academic disciplines, and a demonstration of the CIP code tool available during the data entry process. Participants will also delve into additional benchmarks that assess processes and outcomes within Student and Administrative Services.

The session will feature a demonstration of the data entry process and showcase the reports and reporting tools available to members, empowering attendees to efficiently utilize these resources for benchmarking and institutional improvement.
